Hi, I’m Hyler!

Let’s just jump into it…

A bit of my Background

Untitled-6-01.png

In 2013, I founded a successful cannabis-related App with Isaac Dietrich, Tyler Knight, and my brother Stewart Fortier. We built an incredible community of over 1,000,000 avid cannabis consumers, and a social media following in the millions as well. I handled all of the design needs for the company for the first 3 years. Whether it was the overall branding scheme of our marketing or the App itself, I did it all. In that time, I learned what it truly meant to be scrappy. I can iterate quickly on any design, and help anyone truly visualize their idea.

After the first three years diving deep into design, I transferred over to an overall content role. I was in charge of our content and social media team. Our team launched many highly successful campaigns, including a campaign targeted at Apple. We were able to engage so many people in the message that Apple actually overturned their policy that was very restrictive to cannabis apps, paving the way for the entire cannabis technology industry.

I've worked extensively with the Adobe Suite, most frequently Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. I also have some basic web development and design experience. The web-building platform I am most familiar with is Squarespace, but I also have experience with Wordpress and Shopify.

Event & Campaign Graphics

I worked extensively with Wiz Khalifa's team to put together the graphic for the launch of one of his cannabis brands in Denver, Colorado. I did the designs for a variety of social media campaigns.

Proficient in Adobe Illustrator

These images were made as gifts for friends who are mildly obsessed with their dogs. I used Adobe Illustrator to trace the main features of the dogs' faces, and to bring out their personalities with strong shapes and colors.

Experience doing Merchandise

MassRoots collaborated with a company that makes candles for an exclusive line sold only on our website. They liked my design so much, they actually asked me to redo their branding and they now use this general layout for all of their candles!

I have worked with a variety of merchandisers over the last few years to make sure our designs are printed properly, and sending over all of the necessary files - usually .eps or .ai files created in Adobe Illustrator. I understand how screen printing works, and always work hard to ensure that the designs are sent exactly as needed to print correctly. I've worked with merchandisers as far as China and as close as Denver with great success. I also ran the company's web store for about a year and a half including sourcing all designs, materials, and printers.
